Broken, lost, useless, killed

Just a quick update. progress has been a bit slow lately due to work, but I have now finished and will be focusing all of my time on Fallen 2020.

In Fallen 2020 there will be a lot of broken, ravaged, graffiti and dirty areas, no two places will be broken or ravaged in the same way

Attached is an example of what 4 pavement textures that will be used in the game, they all tile seamlessly with each other, 3D overgrowth and a bit of ivy will be coming out of those cracks in the final game

Progress Report

Above is one of many images I render out at this stage, it is a rough guide of where things will go and what the scene will look like, these get saved and referenced later when i come back to add in more detail.

The things you see in the image will become the final assets for the game, these are a very early work in progress - textures have been designed for these assets already.

This will be the last blog until I have done an entire scene complete with textures, effects, shaders and props.

Ivy - a touchy subject for any CG artist

Mention ivy to any CG artist and they will quiver in fear, well maybe not but they will tell you how much of a nightmare it is adding ivy or random overgrowth to objects realistically and in 3D.

This was something i have been fearing for a long time when designing post apocalyptic overgrown worlds, but it appears as if I have found a viable solution, actually it came to me while dancing to Slayer at a metal club, yes that is a real time render and that is a low poly ivy mesh wieghing in at 269 triangles and 1 texture (not including the building).

I can grow that ivy on, in or around any mesh. I can grow any other type of overgrowth type plant or even grass inbetween cracks and on small ledges.

Progress is coming on well, i just haven't been posting because i want to post a suprise in a few weeks time.
